Middleton (F 15)

Name: Middleton
The final clue “at the church turn right – you are here!” The village called Middleton, 140 klm from Port Elizabeth. Middleton, dates back to 1879 and used to be a railway station in the old days, (now the trains thunder through at high speed, four to six times a day.

The village now is privately owned by a Mr van Koller of Sekunda and consists of a church, police station with jail, hotel with 12 rooms, (there was even a TV room with DSTV) a tavern with pool room, a curious shop and a post office/general dealer/petrol station. There was a swimming pool, a lapa with a huge braai area and two well looked after tennis courts, a small cemetery and of course a small caravan park.

The caravan park was designed I imagine to cater for a maximum of 16 vans – we packed in 20! There were 69 of us, of which there were 27 children. Bear in mind the population of Middleton is only 5!
