A 26 year old Harare man drowned in a water tank at the Zimbabwe Phosphate Company in Msasa last week, in a case in which police suspect foul play.
Mugovewashe Nkomo's body was found after officials at the company drained the tank while searching for him.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Andrew Phiri said the police sub-aqua unit had to be called to retrieve the body on Thursday.
He said on Tuesday at around 1am, Nkomo's brother went to Zimphos looking for him after he had not returned home.
"At the offices he was told that his brother had finished work at around 5pm and that they thought that he had gone home," said Supt Phiri.
A search was conducted, but they could not locate Nkomo.
On Thursday at around 1pm, officials at the company saw a wristwatch, helmet, gloves and a wallet belonging to Nkomo near the water tank.
"The management decided to drain water from the tank using a bowser," said Supt Phiri.
They then discovered Nkomo's body in the tank and a report was made at Rhodesville Police Station which then informed the sub aqua unit.
Supt Phiri said they were investigating the case to ascertain the cause of Nkomo's death.
The body was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals mortuary for post mortem.
