Historic fact:

Named in honour of the late Alan Roberts, whose pioneering geological and prospecting work was key in the eventual discovery of gold and development of the Goldfields, Allanridge was founded as a settlement in 1947, although it was only proclaimed as a town in 1956. Home of the Lorraine Gold Mine, one of the biggest in the Goldfields, Allanridge is a town of sunshine, and the thousands of flamingos who make the area their home provide natural beauty.

Nyakallong location was established by the mine workers working at Loraine mine and started as dwelling for mine workers only as many were expected to have their permanent place were they come from. Nyakallong is about 3 kilometres from Allanridge. It consists with various ethnics groups, Ba-Sotho, Amaxhosa and Amaxulu as they form part languages mainly spoken.

Where to stay: You don't want to stay here - read this gory story:

On Friday, 23 May 2008 the members of Allanridge SAPS were patrolling the R30 road between Allanridge and Bothaville when they saw a suspicious object on the side of the road. When they investigated they discovered a human body lying with the its inside the water drain pipe. The deceased was an African woman aged between 18 and 25. Her face was burnt and she had also sustained 14 stabwounds. The police took the body to a mortuary where a post-mortem was conducted. The results of the post-mortem revealed that the deceased had been burnt with diesel and was stabbed with a sharp object. The stabbing caused her death.
She was wearing a pair of blue jeans, gold earrings and a bracelet.
It is suspected that the incident occurred between 19 and 21 May 2008, because the body was not yet decomposed when the police found it on 23 May 2008. The deceased might be from Bothaville, Allanridge or Odendaalsrus.
