operation Uric which had as its aim the completedestruction/disruption of the Frelimo/Zanla lines of communication as far back as the economicallyimportant Aldeia De Barragem (Lit. village of the dam) 93 miles N.W. of Maputo and 200 miles fromRhodesia. At Barragem the road and rail bridges over the dam, along with its vital irrigation canalfeeding a major agricultural complex which produced 80% of Mozambique's cash crop, were to bedemolished along with 4 lesser bridges. Air strikes would be made on Barragem, Mapai and Maxaila inan effort to so demoralise the occupants that they would abandon their bases because with their road, railand bridge links destroyed behind them and with communications, supplies and water cut off, theenemy, especially at Mapai, would be in a very vulnerable position.

Aldeia da Barragem and chinhacanine is the same distance from Maputo because accross the bridge from aldeia da barragem is chinhacanine.the bridge was bombed in 1979.the rockets just missed me in 15 minutes when i was on my way to chinhacanine from aldeia da barragem where i was schooling.
