Thirteen people, including a special police constable, were
thrown off a Vereeniging-bound commuter train around 7pm on
Thursday night.
Soweto police spokesman Maj Joseph Ngobeni said seven commuters
were thrown off the train between Longdale and New Canada
stations and another six were thrown off the same train between
New Canada and Mlamlakunzi stations near Orlando in Sowto.
Maj Ngobeni said the special constable and one of the commuters
were seriously injured. The policeman also sustained stabwounds
and had his firearm stolen.
The reason for the train attack was not known on Thursday night,
Maj Ngobeni said.
